Ride of Faith

I don’t like heights.

When I say that, I mean even a step ladder makes me lightheaded.

Back in the day at Great Adventure,

my friends would line up for rides like the Scream Machine

and I’d watch, praying they’d all survive.

But one day, I faced my fear and got on.

I prayed, called His name the entire time,

and when I got off that ride, I thanked God for keeping me.

And I decided, I didn’t need to do that again.

I say all this to say:

I follow God, and that’s enough of a ride for me.

Life itself is the roller coaster

and faith is the only safety bar that never fails.

Being good to people isn’t always easy;

we all come with our stuff,

but walking upright makes us better.

 Choosing God, again and again,

 even when it’s hard,

is how we rise above fear.

Because our God is greater than our fear.

And every twist, turn, and drop

is just another chance to praise Him

for being steady when life is not.
